ABOUT THE OHIO HB504
IIDA & IIDA Ohio Kentucky proudly and actively support HB504, which would establish a permissive certification of interior designers in Ohio. The profession would be governed under the already established Board of Building Standards regulated by the Ohio Department of Commerce. The bill allows for permit authority for projects within a well-defined scope and only applies to nonresidential buildings. This bill essentially restores autonomy so that certified interior designers do not have to hire an architect to stamp and seal their own interior design drawings for a permit. This bill does not prevent or limit any one from practicing interior design as they do today.
