Product Runway 2017 was held on April 13th at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Cincinnati. The event filled was high fashion, great music, creativity, and good company. A play off the hit reality show Project Runway, this event challenges designers to create couture garments from products used on their everyday projects. Carpet, upholstery, vinyl flooring, laminate, tile, and many other materials were utilized in their designs.
The 2017 event had an overall Runway theme of Artists, with artists selected randomly by the teams during our pre-event launch party. A total of 12 creations walked the runway, with artist inspiration ranging from Charley Harper to Jiro Yoshihara. Three teams were awarded places from our judge panel, with a fourth voted as the people’s choice award. Teams were judged on craftsmanship/construction, model presentation, creativity, theme relationship, and overall presentation.
