Perspectus Architecture was selected by Hudson, Ohio-based Laurel Lake retirement community to design its new Bistro, Pub & Colony Shop. Part of Phase I of Laurel Lake’s five-year Town Center Expansion Plan to renovate and expand its core campus amenities, the 5,000 square-foot project was completed in early 2016.
The Bistro’s New England-style exterior incorporates the same stone-and-shake architectural elements used elsewhere in Laurel Lake’s campus, creating a new architectural focal point adjacent to Laurel Lake’s front doors and Campus Entrance.
Coming into Laurel Lake’s main entrance, residents and their guests are welcomed by a spacious new Lounge featuring a central fireplace and an alcove to showcase the Steinway grand piano.
The new octagon-shaped Bistro & Pub feature dramatic high ceilings with exposed wood beams topped by a cupola, and wrap-around windows allowing plenty of natural light. The Bistro seating accommodates 60 people with ample room for larger gatherings to “spill over” into the new Lounge area.
The attractive bar offers both comfortable low seating and standing room. A self-service Coffee Station is accessible to residents 24 hours a day.
The new Colony Shop has an attractive, open design with ample shelf and refrigerated space to carry grocery items, gifts, cards and Laurel Lake apparel.
Perspectus is now working on the next phases which include physical therapy, a main street, a pool and spa.
