The IIDA Columbus City Center would like to thank Josh Mercer with Knoll for presenting a interesting and thoughtful CEU today at the CCAD MindMarket. Today's topic was all about a new trend in the workplace called "Co-Working".
Co-Working environments are places that bring together people from various industries to work, collaborate and even network. Co-Working environments are very similar to the term we all know as the "third place". Home is the "first place", work is the "second place" and coffee shops are an example of the "third place".
During this presentation, Josh explained that 1 in 2 Americans embrace or experienced solo working experiences like this, 70% of millennials want to start their own businesses, and 17 million people are currently solopreneurs. A Solopreneur is defined as a 1 person company. Co-Working spaces are a great way for smaller companies to be exposed to groups they normally would not encounter.
The group of student and professionals that attended today's CEU had a great discussion with Josh on how more collaborative, co-working environments are the future!
