Ready, Set, Charette once again brought together local design students from area universities. The enriching experience provided a platform for collaboration, sharpened the design on the fly skills and culminated with a round of interactive critiques from area design professionals.
This year’s day was spent working hard in the design and office space of 4walls, a local and innovative designer and manufacturer of high-quality wall décor products company. 4walls provided the perfect and creative backdrop for the participating design students to put their heads together and solve the design problem at hand – enhancing the office space of 4walls to better support their own office needs. The design problem posed provided a handful of absolute needs for the space, a few items more on 4walls’ wish list and also asked the design students to plan for a way to showcase the various products that 4walls designs and manufacturers. A tall order to meet in just 3 ½ short hours, indeed.
Upon completion of the project, the teams of design students presented their solutions to area design professionals – Anna Baldi, Director of Design at HSB Architects and Dr. Terry Uber, Retired Interior Design Faculty from Kent State University.
The intimate size of the participating students allowed for some great, free-flowing conversation between design students, design professionals, and 4walls employees alike.
The Cleveland Akron City Center is so very appreciative for the hospitality of the entire 4walls team, opening up their office space for the day, as well as Surface Materials, the local dealer for 4walls materials, who generously provided breakfast and lunch for all participating students and professionals during the day.
Students – stay tuned for more professional development opportunities into the new year. We look forward to seeing you in 2019!
