As we enjoy the summer and get ready for another busy fall for the Columbus IIDA City Center, we wanted to highlight some of things we've done so far in 2023 and share some of the upcoming possibilities to get involved.
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our annual NCIDQ Prep Talk back in January. We had a great turn out this year and we covered everything from best practices for studying to exam tips and tricks. Couldn't attend? No problem! Watch the recording here: https://youtu.be/Kip4FAfkbUg
And if you're considering sitting for the exams, IIDA OHKY Chapter encourages certification, and helps members prepare for the NCIDQ exam by offering an intensive preparation course twice a year. Find out more on the website, or visit QPractice: https://www.qpractice.com/
Our event, Advocating for the Future of Design was a great way to kick off the revamped advocacy efforts in Ohio! Our Ohio/Kentucky VP of Advocacy, Tamra Fuscaldo, started off our event with describing where our state has been from a legislative standpoint and where we hope to go in the next 5 years.
Matt Whitehead, Director of Legislative Affairs at Governmental Policy Group Inc. and RH Resources, also spoke at the event. He discussed what we can do as individuals to help further our advocacy efforts and our current challenges in Ohio against our legislative efforts.
We wrapped up our event with a fantastic panel discussion with Brent Foley (Triad Architects), Stasia Suleiman (HOK), Elizabeth Leidy (Elizabeth Leidy Architect and CCAD), Lisa Mini (Mosaic Design Studio), Maria Rosmarin (MSA Architects), and Lynnette Clouse (Ohio University). We had open discussion on opinions of Interior Design Legislation in Ohio and common challenges and benefits of interior designers and architects working together. We've received a lot of great feedback from this event, so keep an eye out for future advocacy efforts in Ohio!
We had another successful year of Camp Architecture and Design! Thanks to the Center for Architecture and Design for running this great event! Our team had a great time working with the kids on designing their very own restaurant interiors!
Our City Center Professional Development team created Grow - A Book of Resources for the interior design community in Columbus. This digital resource is located on the IIDA Ohio/Kentucky Chapter website and will continue to be built on, providing inspiration, connections, and continuing education resources.
Check it out on the IIDA Ohio Kentucky website or find it here: https://www.iidaohky.org/resources
Our annual Get Connected event in February provided an opportunity for current and potential Columbus IIDA members to share what's going on, enjoy catching up within the community and talk about plans for the future.
We have also been busy planning for our biennial Columbus Interior Design Awards to occur this coming October. CIDA 2023 will bring out the best and brightest in the local interior design community to celebrate and recognize exemplary designs and the designers who help to shape the community.

We continue to thank our generous benefactors for their support of IIDA, as well as our City Center volunteers who work together to make programming and initiatives a reality. We are so excited for the future of our profession, and look forward to the rest of 2023 with our Columbus membership.
Thanks for being a part of IIDA!
