This past June, IIDA Columbus volunteers had the opportunity to teach 4 sessions about Interior Design at Camp Architecture and Design.
What is Camp Architecture + Design?
The Center for Architecture and Design hosts this annual summer camp for children ranging from 3rd - 8th grade at Knowlton School for Architecture.
Event Summary:
During our sessions, we taught about biophilia and sustainability. The theme this year was centered on climate change and natural disasters. The campers developed material boards inspired by nature. They then took this a step further, by applying their materials and scaled furniture to their residential interior environments. The kids blew us away with their creativity and ideas! It was such a joy to see their unique, individual approaches and creative expression.
We loved sharing a small aspect of what Interior Design can entail with the next generation of designers. The future of our profession is in good hands!
