This was the 25th year of the Cincinnati Design Awards and the IIDA Cincinnati/Dayton Board members were so excited to attend. The event was held at Memorial Hall in Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, which is an elegant event hall that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. It was the perfect backdrop to celebrate an event with a history of its own - the 25th CDAs! Check out a video on the origin and history of the event here.
The evening brought all members of our industry together to celebrate the best of Building Architecture, Interior Architecture, Experiential Graphics, and Landscape Architecture & Community Planning. It was an evening full of great conversation, idea starters, inspiration, and of course - great food & drink! After gathering to network in the ornate foyer of the building, attendees were brought in to the theater space for the presentation of awards. Five jurors made up the panel, reigning from a range of disciplines and organizations. Joey N. Shimoda, FAIA, FIIDA represented IIDA and announced the winners of the Interior Architecture category. You can read more about Joey and all of the jurors here.
The CDA Committee is full of friendly IIDA Cincinnati/Dayton faces - Bonny Rienecke (Special Events Coordinator), Megan Mershman (VP of Special Events), and Michelle Vonderbrink (Student Relations) who served as a CDA Committee Co-Chair this year! We are so proud of all the hard work these members put in to their local IIDA City Center, the CDAs, and their own industry work. We thank you for such a beautiful event! IIDA Cincinnati/Dayton was represented in the audience by Amanda Vieu (Director), Robyn Davis (Co-Director), Heather Hemmer (Membership Coordinator) and Mason Schmikla (Advocacy Coordinator).
